New Phone Line Hours

BRISSC phone support is changing!

Historically the BRISSC phone line has operated from 9am – 1pm, Monday to Thursday.

From the 21st of September 2020, the phone lines will operate from 9am-12pm, Monday to Thursday.

The phone line provides emotional support, advocacy, information and referral to women who have experienced sexual violence. It also offers support, information and referrals to friends and family members of survivors, male survivors and the wider community.

BRISSC has implemented this change for the following reasons:

  1. We have hired permanent phone workers which will enable callers to regularly connect with the same workers. This increases continuity of service for folks contacting the phone line. This aligns with feedback from BRISSCs recent service evaluation.
  2. Employing additional staff to provide phone support enables BRISSC counsellors to offer an increased amount of face-to-face support and counselling.
