The CRUISE resource which was launched on March 5th 2003, is the culmination of 12 months of hard work by a committed group of young women, who have struggled with there own self harming behaviour and the self harming behaviour of their peers. These young women continue to seek alternative ways of expressing their feelings, supporting their peers and developing and sharing their skills and experiences with others.

The CRUISE resource comprises of 12 post cards and a 10 page bookletwhich is intended to raise awareness about self harm and provide information that might assist the community to more appropriately respond to young women who self harm. Most of the artwork contained in the resource is the original work of the young women. The text originally generated by the young women, was refined and developed through a combination of consultation and focus groups with the broader community.

The CRUISE resource is suitable for workers, young women, their families, friends and carers. The resource is free for young women or available to organisations for $15 through BRISSC. Funds generated from the sale of the resource will enable the young women to continue to develop further resources, support for young women who are affected by self harm and training for the broader community.
